ADS1015: 1.8V applied to I2C Inputs when VDD is removed

Dear Precision ADC Team,

Our customer has 1.8V pull up on the I2C inputs when VDD of 3.3V is removed.   The datasheet seems to indicate that the digital inputs can tolerate up to 5.5V irrespective of the VDD voltage (unlike the analog inputs).   Please confirm that the ADS1015 can support 1.8V on the inputs while VDD is removed.
