DAC8760EMC-EVM: Is this a development board?

I am working on a project and I need bipolar 10V output for my project. I am thinking of using DAC8760, but couldn't find DAC8760 development board. I came across this evaluation module, but its written that it is for evaluation of DAC8760 performance and characteristics. My question is can I use this board for connecting it with my microcontroller through SPI or this works only for performance evaluation with a PC? Basically, I am not able to understand the difference between development and evaluation board.

Hi Nishant,

The evaluation modules include a PC software GUI that is used to quickly evaluate the device performance. This makes it easy to evaluate without having to write code or interface with a microcontroller. You can still use a microcontroller to control the DAC8760 over SPI but you will have to make the connections manually between the microcontroller and the EVM.

Hi Garrett,
Thanks for your reply. So I just need to connect SPI_CLK, MOSI, LATCH pins from the microcontroller to DAC EVM. No other connections are required?

Hi Nishant,

You will need to connect MISO to be able to read back from the device. You will also have to connect a supply for the digital isolator (typically 3.3V or 5V). These connections are shown on page 18 of the EVM User's Guide linked below. VDUT is the supply for the isolator.

Hi Garrett,
I am having one another doubt regarding supplies to the board. What must be the current rating of supply for supplying +/- 15V. Can I supply it from a DC Regulated Power Supply of +/-15V, 0.5A rating? Will it damage the board?
