ADS1148: Footprint RHB package

Part Number: ADS1148

Dear,

Page 96 of the datasheet of the ADS1148 shows the mechanical data of the RHB (S=PVQFN-N32) package. The picture shows a thermal pad which is not in the center of the package. Is this correct? Other package information does show other information.

So my question is, if this information, as given on page 96 of the datasheet is correct. And if yes, what is the reason for this offset?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

Wim van der Steeg

  • Hi Wim van der Steeg,

We'll look into this for you to see why the datasheet shows an offset on the thermal pad.

  • Wim,

I believe the thermal pad for the ADS1148 is offset, as shown in the datasheet. It is drawn this way in both the Pin Configuration and Function section and in the Thermal Pad Mechanical Data section, which is automatically appended to the end of the datasheet. There's a bit more information in the following post:

I don't know of any engineering reason why the pad is offset in this package and there is nothing unusual about the die pinout that would make an offset thermal pad necessary.
