FDC1004: What is the maximum level can it measure?

Part Number: FDC1004

I found in manual that Maximum Shield Load: 400 pF

But if there is anyone know what is the maximum level can FDC1004 measure? I'm about to use it with 2m level of water but not too sure if the capacity is enough.

  • Hi Kulatuch,

The full-scale input range for the FDC1004 is +/- 15pF, with a maximum offset capacitance of 100pF for each channel. The maximum water level that the FDC1004 can measure is really based on the sensor size and capacitance. If your sensor capacitance is 100pF or less, it should be able to measure the water level up to 2m. You could also split the level sensor between two channels to decrease the load on each channel. In addition, if you need the shield to drive a larger load than is specified in the datasheet, you can use a buffer at the SHLD pin. Note that this will increase the system current consumption.

    Regards,
