FDC2214: Fin parameter for FDC2214 single-ended sensor

Guru 18625 points

Part Number: FDC2214

Dear,

this is a capture of FDC2214 datasheet.

I am confused, since for EVM GUI, the default values of bit 13 and bit 12 are "b01" for ch0, which features a single-ended sensor.

Please, let me know :)

Have a really nice day!

  • Hi Kazola,

You are correct that the default register values do not match the recommended values in the datasheet. In this case, the EVM is more up-to-date with our current recommendations for the CHx_FIN_SEL settings. The main reason to use the FIN divider is if your FREF is less than 40MHz. The FDC2214 requires that FREF is at least 4x faster than FIN. You could use an FIN divider to meet this requirement. If this is not necessary, we generally recommend using an FIN divider of 1, which is why that is the default setting on the EVM.

Nothing will stop working if you follow the datasheet recommendations, but we currently recommend the above settings.
