TSW1400EVM: Radar Studio problem with chirp capture through TSW1400 EVM

Part Number: TSW1400EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1443

Hi,

I am trying to connect AWR1443 +mmWave DevPack+TSW1400 and configure them through Radar Studio 1.9.2.1.

And I have seen the related training video:    raining.ti.com/mmwave-sensor-raw-data-capture-using-tsw1400-board

But it did't solve my problem.

When I click the TSW1400 ARM button,

the radar studio out put screenshots are as below:

I really hope someone to teach me how to do it!

Looking forward to solve this issue soon!

Thanks in Advance!

  • have you defined the frame configuration "Frameconfig"?

    thank you
    Cesar
  • Thanks!

I have defined the frame configuration like this:

Under Frame Section, no frames “10”

    No of chirp loops “128”

Periodicity “40” (need to make sure duty cycle is <= 50%

    It is right?

    Looking forward your reply!
  • Hi Hexin,

Can you please take a snapshot of the Connection, StaticConfig, DataConfig and SensorConfig pages after you have selected all relevant options on each page? Also, can you please attach the log file of your full setup procedure (the full results from the "Output" window)?

    Thank you,
    Randy
  • Surely.

Taday I try a new power supply, but the problem still here.

    looking forward your reply!

    thanks

  • Hi Hexin,

Pressing the RF Power-up button in the mmWave Studio GUI runs the ar1.RfEnable() lua command. You can see in your logs that this command is failing - the command returns "RESP TIMEOUT". This indicates that the either the RadarSS was not able to initialize on your EVM or the Devpack FTDI SPI controller was not able to receive the confirmation of startup from the RadarSS.

All of the other commands requiring the RadarSS to be operational and in communication with mmWave Studio fail after that. So none of your SensorConfig options are going to be set - including the Frame Config not being set, which is why you get your specific error you first posted.

That explains the error message you are seeing, but your real problem is why your RadarSS is failing to initialize.

Regarding your comment about trying a new power supply. Only requirement is 5V, 3A and +/-5% tolerance into the DC power input jack on the EVM - per the EVM user guide. Does your supply meet those requirements? Has this EVM ever shown a proper RadarSS initialization?

    Thanks,
    Randy
  • Hi Randy

    Thanks your explain.

Which evm do you mean  tsw1400 or awr1443 boost evm?

I have tried the following power supply combination:

     tsw 1400  5v3a;awr1443 5v3a

     tsw 1400  5v4a;awr1443 5v3a

     tsw 1400  5v3a;awr1443 5v4a

     tsw 1400  5v6a;awr1443 5v6a

     tsw 1400  5v6a;awr1443 5v3a

     tsw 1400  5v3a;awr1443 5v6a

But there is always a timeout problem.

And when radar studio run shows a warning like this:

    It is ok?

Could you help me again ?

    please

    looking forward your reply
