ADS8900B: Analog GND and Digital GND on PCB with ADS8900B

Part Number: ADS8900B

Hi,

If a PCB has separated GND pattern for analog and digital, which GND should be connected with GND pin of ADS8900B (11 and 15)?

The datasheet shows that internal AGND and DGND are connected with each other in ADS8900B.  Are these 2 internal GNDs are connected directly or through bonding wires?

 Best Regards, Taki

  • Hello Taki,

All grounds on the ADC should be treated as analog ground. These are sometimes routed out as separate grounds for the internal analog and digital sections, but in all cases, should be connected together next to the IC and connected to the analog ground plane.

For the ADS8900B, it is recommended to connect both GND pins 11 and 15 to the thermal pad, and then use multiple vias from the thermal pad to the ground plane.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

    Regards,
    Keith N.
