I'm wondering if this module would be able to register the passing of lead shotgun shot going 1500fps, and within 5" of the sensor coil.

    Hi Michael,

    It's possible that you could get something to work, but I believe it would be very challenging. The EVM's default coil will be too small to detect any object 5" away. Sensing distance is only dependent on the diameter of the coil, so you would need a larger diameter coil. However, you will see the strongest response from the device when the target is about the same size as the coil. If you make the coil larger to improve the sensing distance, you will diminish the strength of the response from the target. Typically our targets are flat surfaces, so the rounded surface could also diminish the target's response. The device can convert fast enough to detect the target, but the target shape may make the application unfeasible. If you plan to test the application with the LDC1101EVM, I would recommend reading these two application notes:
