PGA970EVM: GUI-ADC3 settings

Part Number: PGA970EVM

Hi TI team, we are trying to use the internal temperature sensor through the GUI but so far are unable to get any usable readings.  is there a default configuration for getting values from the internal temp sensor?  Below is a snapshot of our current settings.

thank you.

  • Hi Victor,

The Test Mux Enable should not be turned on to read the internal temp sensor. Please turn that off and try reading again. You can confirm you have the correct setting by going to the AMUX_CTRL register (0x67) in the low level configuration menu and making sure that TEST_MUX_S3_EN is set to "ADC3 GAIN".

    Regards,
  • Hey Scott,

Thank you for the quick response, but I may be confused. When Test Mux enable is on, The AMUX_CTRL register shows that TEST_MUX_S3_EN is indeed set to "ADC3 GAIN".  If I turn off Test Mux Enable, then the AMUX_CTRL register shows the TEST_MUX_S3_EN bit as being set to "TOP/TON".  Below are the new settings and readings.

    thank you

  • Hi Scott, we also have the same problem. We already tried what you just mentioned, but we have the same problem as Victor. It seems that something is wrong with your procedure.
  • Hello Victor and Hector,

I was mistaken about the Test Mux Enable button. It is correct to have it Enabled, since that routes the internal temp sensor to the ADC. On my EVM I have no problem reading the internal temp sensor using the settings you have shown:

Can you please save all of the settings in the low level configuration page and post them so I can see if anything looks off?

    Thank you,
