SM73201: Do you have any solution for DC arc detection except RD-195(DC Arc Detection Evaluation Board ) ?

Hello guys,

One of my customers is interesting in RD-195(DC Arc Detection Evaluation Board ).

They have a few questions as the follows.

Q1. Do you have any solution for DC arc detection except RD-195(DC Arc Detection Evaluation Board ) ?

Q2. We found "(OBSOLETE)" in SM73201-ARC-EV WEB page as the following URL

http://www.ti.com/tool/SM73201-ARC-EV?keyMatch=rd-195&tisearch=Search-EN-Everything

What does this "OBSOLETE" mean? In a few years ago, could this board be sold to customer?

Or this application and the schematic can not be used now?

Hello Kazuya,

I will need to check with the team to see if we have any other arc detection solutions.

Originally, an EVM (hardware) was available for purchase. We now only provide the design documentation, and it is provided on an as-is basis. Please refer to the disclosure statement on the RD-195 landing page, www.ti.com/.../sm73201-arc-ev.

Also note that the SM73201 can be used in a wide range of applications and is still ACTIVE and fully supported.

Hello Keith,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I understood that the design documents and SM73201 are active now though the EVM was obsolete.

I'm looking foward for your answer as to whether there are other solutions.

Hello Kazuya,

Unfortunately at this time, the only ARC detection solution from TI is the RD-195. Please keep checking in the future; there is always the possibility that we will update the design.
