AFE5805: how to set pga

Part Number: AFE5805

Hello,TI Experts,

I am now using afe5805,

Now I'd like to change PGA through SPI interface~

But I failed,do I need to enable anything to change PGA successfully?

  • Hello Fawn,

Can you confirm if you have written the initial commands through the AFE5805 GUI?

This step is used to adjust ADC input and output configuration. Therefore, TSW1400 can correctly capture data.

    1. Set Address Byte(s) = 0 Data Byte(s) = 1. Click any space area to send command to AFE5805.

    2. Set Address Byte(s) = 42 Data Byte(s) = 8081. Click any space area.

    3. Set Address Byte(s) = 46 Data Byte(s) = 8208. Click any space area.

If you have already done the above, can you provide more details as to what happens when you change the PGA settings in the GUI?

Some screenshots of the error message (if any) will help.

  • Hello,Praveen

    Thanks for your reply~

    we don't have TSW1400 EVM~

We change the register by SPI interface~

And we found that before and after we change the register ,the wave doesn't change at all~

  • Hi Fawn,

First we will need to check if the SPI is working fine.
Can you enable the powerdown mode and check if the supply current is reduced?
Since you do not have the data capture card TSW1400EVM, how do you verify the ADC data from the AFE5805EVM?

  • Hello Praveen,
Sorry that we don't have the EVM~
AFE5805 output connects FPGA by LVDS,ane then verify the connected ultrasonic signals、digital gain、CW mode,it's all normal~
Clamping and LPF bandwidth setting are also normal~
only PGA cannot be changed ~
  • Hello Praveen,
    The problem has solved~
The documents I referred is not the newest one~
