DAC8775: Which condition need the current out ±24 mA

Part Number: DAC8775

hi Sir

Can you let me know Which condition need the current out ±24 mA

how the measure the -24mA? By current meter?

  • Hi Alex,

The current and voltage ranges for analog output modules (transmitters) really depend on what the analog input module you are driving expects. There are some field actuators and other devices that require this range to operate. For instance, a valve actuator may use negative full-scale to represent full clockwise and positive full-scale for full counter clockwise with 0 being a neutral position. This is just an example.

The device could also be used as a precision current source in an application that requires both sourcing and sinking current.

Measuring the -24mA will be the same as measuring the positive current ranges. You can either use a series current meter that will indicate the direction the current is flowing or measure the voltage across a load resistor. The voltage across the load resistor will be positive for the positive range and negative for the negative portion of the range.

    Thanks,
    Garrett
