DAC161S997EVM: Communication Error with DAC161S997 : Timeout expired error

Part Number: DAC161S997EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC161S997

Hi,

I'm trying to test the DAC161S997EVM through the accompanying LabView software. I'm trying to write a test value to the DAC board by selecting an output current in the DAC161S997 software, but an error continuously pops up with a timeout expired error (1073807339). Screenshots attached. I dont know if its a hardware or a software issue.

The device is being recognized but cannot be communicated with.

Drivers are up to date.

Even attaching the current loop makes no difference.

Thanks,

Karan Kaushik

  • Hi Karan,

    Welcome to the E2E forums!

It seems like the there is a communication issue between the EVM software and EVM board. I can replicate this error and receive the exact error message if I disconnect the loop supply from the EVM during use and try to write to a register. Do you have the loop supply connected the whole time you are using the EVM? I notice that the COM port will still show up without a loop power supply connected but this timeout error occurs.

What are the steps you took before receiving this error message? Also, what happens if you click continue?

    Thanks,
    Garrett
