ADS7830: Internal reference, 0,1uF capacitor missing

Part Number: ADS7830

For the ADS730, figure 13 of the datasheet show a 0,1uF connected to the internal reference.

There is no other mention of this capacitor in the datasheet

What's the purpose of this capacitor?

If the capacitor is missing, what are the possible effect on the circuit?

Best regards

  • Hi Jean

ADC internal reference need to provide peak currents when ADC is converting. Average current drawn from reference may be low but adding a capacitor on reference pin acts as a charge bucket and peak current requirements during conversion phase.

There could be performance degradation if this capacitor is not used. We recommend to add 0.1uF bypass capacitor at REFIO pin.

    Thanks & Regards
