I have a test setup comprising a DAC38RF82EVM and TSW14J56EVM. It is connected to a high-amplitude (16 dBm) clock and high-speed oscilloscope. Using the DAC38RF8x EVM GUI and HSDC Pro software, I could output sine waves in Single(8bits) mode at 9 Gsps; so, my hardware/software setup seems to be good. When I then tried Dual(12bits) mode at 3.333 Gsps, there was no output. What are the steps to getting this mode working? Would you please provide detailed steps and screenshots?
This was my procedure for trying to setup Dual(12bit) mode: (1) completely disconnect and reconnect power to both boards, (2) set my clock for 3.333 GHz and 16 dBm, (3) start the DAC38RF8x EVM GUI, (4) click its RESET button twice and then click LOAD DEFAULT, (5) enter 3333 (MHz) for DAC Clock Frequency, select Dual(12bits), real input, 4 Lanes per DAC, 1x interpolation, (6) click CONFIGURE DAC, (7) click Reset DAC, (8) start HSDC Pro, (9) on its DAC tab select DAC38RF8x_LMF_823, (10) enter 3.333G for Data Rate, (11) created a 25 MHz sine wave and click Send, and (12) in the DAC38RF8x EVM GUI again click Reset DAC. I tried both the default firmware TSW14J56REVD_AEQ_FIRMWARE.rbf and also tried TSW14J56REVD_FIRMWARE.rbf. The oscilloscope displayed zero output. Repeating the same steps for Single(8bits) mode at 9 Gsps (this time using a 9 GHz clock and DAC38RF8x_LMF_811) did correctly display a sine wave. Why?
