5154A vs 5154?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5154, TVP5154A

I'm seeing a problem with color using the 5154A.  I'm working on a DSP board based on a TI EVM reference design utilizing a TI dsp and a 5154.

Captured frames have distorted color, and similar colors appear different in different parts of the scene.  If I image a blue static mat, I get "rainbow" colors left to right on the captured image.

All external connections look identical, and the software is identical between the EVM and the target board.  Are there any differences between the 5154 and 5154A that could be causing this?

  • Hello Steve,

There are no different between TVP5154 and TVP5154A except power up.  TVP5154 has a minor power up problem and it was fixed in TVP5154A.

  • I've seen some postings about installing patches to the 5154A -- what problems do those address?

  • Hi Steve,

Our latest patch v2.03 address these issues:

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

    • Fixed black/white line noise issue that occurred whenever the analog gain changed.
    • Limited contrast setting to 207 to prevent wraparound of back-end digital gain.
    • Fixed problem that required the brightness setting to be modified whenever the contrast setting is modified to restore the black level.
    • Fixed the automatic level control (ALC) to function properly when the sync-tip is clipped.

You can download the patch from this link:
