ADC12DJ3200: CHIP ID Reset value different from datasheet

Part Number: ADC12DJ3200

Hello,

My customer has a few prototype boards with ADC12DJ3200 devices where the Chip ID register reset value is 0x06 instead of 0x20 datasheet value.  Could there be any potential issues or concerns if the ID is different from the datasheet? The parts were ordered 1 year ago, could this be an older rev?

    As far as I know we never manufactured any units with CHIP_ID = 0x0006. For all prototype and production versions the CHIP_ID value = 0x0020. This 16 bit value is stored at register addresses 0x0004 and 0x0004.

    The CHIP_VERSION register did have different values for prototype devices and units with CHIP_VERSION = 0x06 did ship to early customers and on some early pre-RTM EVMs. This 8 bit value is stored at register address 0x0006.

    Production units have CHIP_VERSION = 0x0A.

    Please double check with them what values they are reading from CHIP_ID and CHIP_VERSION registers.

    I was able to check with the customer the CHIP_VERSION and it looks like the customer has prototype devices.

    Here is a register dump. It shows the mask revision is 6.

    ADC12DJX registers:
    0000 30 00 00 03 20 00 06 00 00 00 00 00 51 04 00 00
    0010 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

    Is there any differences between the prototype and production devices?

    Yes, there are differences between prototype and production (CHIP_VERSION = 0x20) devices in both functionality and performance.
    If this is a board of their own design they should replace the prototype devices with production parts.
    If this is the ADC12DJ3200EVM they should get the released production EVM for any continuing performance evaluations.
