ADS8685: Does it require an external protection circuit?

hi,

   Does ADS8685 require an external Input protection circuit? This question is because of the fact that it already has a OVP inside of it.

    Hello VEERAMANI,

    Welcome to E2E forum.

    ADS8685 has internal input protection circuit and it can provide a protection up to +/-20V(+/-11V for loss of AVDD), but if an overvoltage on the input is a common event in your system, external diodes are strongly recommended to use on the input of the ADC as a secondary clamp protection, also a resistor is recommended in series with the input to limit the current and protect ADC input and the diodes.
