Hi,

I am trying to connect the PGA411-Q1 EVM to the PGA41x-Q1 EVM GUI.

I follwed the 6 steps of the PGA411-Q1-EVM User's Guide but when I connect the USB-cable, the input current of my power supply rises to 0,8A. The PGA411-Q1 also gets very hot.

I saw that there was a similar problem (post #3):

Unfortunately the problem didn't solve in the thread, so I want to ask if anyone can help me?

Unfortunately, we were not able to solve the problem in that thread. They ended up getting a second EVM which did not have the issue.

Are you saying the following?

1. Connect 5V power supply across PWR_IN and GND. Power consumption looks normal.
2. Plug in USB cable. At this point, the power supply starts to draw 0.8A of current and the PGA411 gets hot.

I could find the issue.

I had an oscilloscope connected to the OE1 and OE2 test points.

I think there were problems with the oscilloscope ground and the USB-Interface (same ground of oscilloscope and computer).

That's great that you found the problem! Connecting an oscilloscope ground to one of the OEx outputs could cause issues... It is possible to damage the PGA411 chip if you ground one of the OEx outputs while ignoring faults, so you might need to replace the PGA411 IC if you are unable to see an excitation output.
