TSW1200EVA: trying to enable header output posts

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5400EVM, FMC-ADC-ADAPTER

I have been trying to use the TSW1200EVA board to gather continuous ADC data from an ADS5400EVM connect with the FMC-ADC-ADAPTER, but I would like to read the data on the header posts on the TSW1200EVA board using an oscilloscope. I see have read in the documentation that the header posts are disabled by default, but I am unclear how to enable them, as there is presently no output on the posts when continuously processing data. I have tried the software but am unable to find any options which will result in enabling these header posts. I am able to capture data via the software/USB connection on the TSW1200EVA but not the header posts.

Has anyone had an issue with this or has suggestions as to how to enable these header posts?

Thanks.

  • Hi John,

You can enable the header posts by depressing switch SW5 on the TSW1200 board.  This should enable the FPGA's output drivers to send clock and parallel data to the header posts.  The pinout of the headers is shown in Figure 6 of the TSW1200EVM's User's Guide:

The buffers are enabled only while the switch is depressed, so if you want them to stay enabled you should solder a jumper wire around SW5 or replace it with a toggle switch.

  • Thank you for your help Max. I was also wondering if I could obtain a copy of the Verilog code for the TSW1200EVA. I have seen on this forum that to obtain it you must requested for it to be emailed here, and we would in the future, like to interface the ADS5400EVM directly with another FPGA board in the future. My email address is jaa67@drexel.edu. Thanks.

  • No problem--the source files have been sent.  Let me know if they didn't make it to you.
