Roadmap for precision ⊿Σ ADC

Guru 19655 points
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1209, ADS8681, ADS8689, ADS8685

If there roadmap for matched below specification, please let me know.

・Resolution: 16bit ~

・Input clock: ~100MHz

・Output data: Serial bus

・ADC channel: 2ch

・Possible to configure SINC filter

・Data update cycle: 1MHz

Nearest ADC is ADS1209, but data update cycle is not matched.

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

We are looking into a faster Delta-Sigma device, but there is nothing on the road map matching your specific requirements. By the description, it sounds closer to a SAR converter. What sort of application are you looking at?
  • Tom-san

    Thank you for reply,

    Application is Power conditioner (Industrial),
Is there any roadmap or matched ADC on SAR converter?

    Best regards,
    Satoshi
  • Hi Satoshi,

Take a look at parts like the ADS8681 or ADS8689 for starters.
  • Tom-san

    Thank you for reply,

I confirm to customer, but ADS8681 and ADS8689 were not match cutomer required spec.

    Detailed information is update, please see below;

    --------------------------------

    【Background】

Customer want to change higher data rate: 334kHz~ or 500kHz~,

but resolution and data rate are depend on SINC3 filter setting by below application note.

(Please see page 11, table 1)

Required resolution is more than 15 bit, but when ADS1209 set 15bit by SINC3 filter,

    data rate was 262kHz.

    【Updated require spec】

    ・Data rate(update cycle) was relaxed: 334kHz~ or 500kHz~

    ・Resolution: more than 15bit

    【Question】

①Is there setting for higher data rate in the case of ADS1209?

②If ADS1209 is not match, is there the other recommend ADC?

     (Including SAR ADC)

    --------------------------------

    Best regards,

    Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

The ADS8681 is 16bits at 1MSPS, the ADS8685 is 16bits at 500kSPS so perhaps I am missing something here. Yes, I did mention the ADS8589 and that's only 100kSPS, so my apologies here. For the ADS1209, as you increase the OSR, you decrease the data rate. So there is not much you can do there.
