ADS1299EEGFE-PDK: Intermittent noise observed in SPI communication with Arduino Uno.

Part Number: ADS1299EEGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299

Hello TI Team,

We made respective SPI connections between Arduino Uno and ADS1299EEGFE-PDK Board and tested FE board for ECG signals on Serial Plotter of Arduino (Baud Rate: 115200).

We observed ECG Signals by doing so on the Serial Plotter successfully. But, after awhile (say about 5 mins) the signals get distorted and a intermittent noise is seen as shown in figure below:

Can you let us know the possible reasons for the same?

  • Hello Tech,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum!

It's difficult to say what is changing over the course of several minutes. Since you are still able to acquire data, the issue likely has to do with your signal source and connection to the ADS1299 circuitry. Are you using a patient simulator or live ECG signals from a person? It could be that your electrode contact quality is worsening over time, meaning that the skin-electrode impedance is increasing and attenuating your ECG signal amplitude.

    Best Regards,
