Is the ads1298 demonstration kit sufficient for acquiring ecg signals

Dear sir,

can i use the ads1298 performance demonstration kit to interface with msp430 to acquire the ecg signal from electrodes. I am not that much concentrating on programming ads1298. So i think no need of going for ads1298 development kit. Since the cost of ads1298 development kit is $449 while the cost of ads1298 demonstration kit is $199. So Please suggest me which one I should opt for my project.

Hi,

The ADS1298 could be used in low speed/power ECG, the $199 option gets you the hardware you need.

I would like to know what do you mean by "low end ECG" ?

Hi Said,

The ADS1298 is well suited to the low power, low speed application space. By "low end" I was referring to the controller, I don't believe the MSP430 would have the speed or processing power to run some of the filtering algorithims you might find in a system that used a DSP for instance. From a performance standpoint, it should be great.
