ADS1298ECG-FE, using only three electrodes.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

Dear sirs,

I'm using ads1298ECG-fe and software. I'm a 'very' beginner in ecg processing and ads1298

I want to get ecg waves like below figure1 using three electrodes.

The three electrodedes positions are presented in figure2.

Figure 1.

 Figure 2.

In my previous work, I can saw the ecg waves like figure1, but, when i using ads1298ecg-fe, i don't know how get correct ecg waves

I connect P1, P2 and P3(figure2) electrodes (which attached my body) to ads1298ecg-fe J1 - 9, 10, 11 pin,
In user's guide, pin 11(LL) is connected to input ch3, pin 10 (LA) is connected to input ch 2 and pin 9 (RA) is ch 1.

And i'm not use both RLD and WCT..

My setting is shown in figure3, figure4,

And result signal is shown in figure 5. it is 'very' wrong i thingk.

 Figure4.

 Figure 5.

Question 1 - Can i get ecg waves using just three electrodes like figure1 at the figure2 position( be pretty similar)

Question 2 - If OK of question 1,

How i setting 'channel registers' and other registers..

Thanks for reading.. and sorry for my short english ^^;;

Hope for your assistance.

Regards

  • Hi Jaein,

Please do refer to page 8 in the Users Guide for the ADS1298ECGFE_PDK:

    • The ADS1298ECG-FE is intended only for electrical evaluation of the features of the ADS1298 device in a laboratory, simulation, or development environment.
    • The ADS1298ECG-FE is not intended for direct interface with a patient, patient diagnostics, or with a defibrillator.
    • The ADS1298ECG-FE is intended for development purposes ONLY. It is not intended to be used as all or part of an end equipment application.

So, to that end, I cannot tell you how or why your particular situation is not working as expected.  I'll try to get this configuration setup on a simulator to verify your register settings are correct.  With regards to the scope display, please try turning off the unused channels to see if it clears out some of the clutter.

  • Hi Tom,

Thank you very munch for your assistance. I read the User Guide again.

    The purpose of ADS1298ECGFE_PDK is not matching to our paricular situation (from human body, three electrodes, ...) sorry ;;

But, we only use the ADS1298ECGFE_PDK as testing.. and we don't use it as end equipment application.. ㅠㅠ .. we are students

Before purchase the ADS1298, we only want to test in real body using PDK..

Tom, The ADS1298ECGFE_PDK can not measure the signal from body? i think it can, of coures..

i'm waiting your result of configuration setup..

    ah..

for "turning off the unused channels"

In channel control registers pannel, only "power-down" mode should i do? without jumper configuration?

    Regards

  • Hi Jaein,

Please see attached - double check your jumper settings and ensure you have the board properly powered.

  • Thanks Tom !!

Your result is a signal that I wanted. T.T

We followed your register setting but we did not get the ECG signal. we can see the only nosie signal..

    We feel frustrated... hmmm   T.T

So, I attached our ADS1298ECGFE_PDK, we use universal adapter include in the package

Please see attached... And please point out mistakes..

    Regards, Jaein Kim.

  • The jumpers look right.  If you have a ECG simulator like the CardioSim or the Fluke mentioned in the Users Guide, I suggest you try hooking that up to verify the board has not been damaged somehow by static electricity.

STATIC GENERATORS:  styrofoam coffee cups, scotch and masking tapes, plastic bags, cellophane wrappers on books and cigarette packs, plastic hand tools, pieces of foam used to block up work closer to an operator, etc.  What we can't see are low levels of static generated by non-conductive tote boxes, cardboard, written paper instructions, failure tags rubbing on boards, personnel clothing, etc.

  • hi Jaine i am vignesh and iam using ADS1298 PDK please tell me if you got any kind of shock please also tell me the method you used for getting ECG in your PC?
