ADS6425 I/O Timing Specifications

ADS6425 I/O timing specifications.

The data sheet, ( http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ads6425.pdf ) on page 7 has a note “Timing parameters are measured at the end of a 2 inch pcb trace (100-Ω characteristic impedance) terminated by RLand CL.”  We have considered 2 different ways to interpret this.  I would assume that the 2 inch trace length is applicable to both the clock and the data, other people have posulated that this might be just on the data line.

Which, if either, is the correct interpretation?

  • Grant,

You are correct that both clock and data signals are measured through 2 inches of PCB trace.  This way, each signal is subject to the same propagation delay, and no additional skew is introduced.
