Difference between Flash ADC and SAR ADC

Hi TI team,

Can anyone tell which one is better for better noise rejection capability? What are the advantages of SAR over the Flash ADC? Specify some Flash type ADC in TI

Hi Venkatesh,

SAR converters are usually smaller and less expensive, since it's a simpler architecture to implement. We have SAR converters that can achieve 18 - 20 bit resolution, while Flash converters are usually 8 - 10 bits. SAR converters also consume less power. Speed wise, the flash converters can hit the giga-sample/second rates. Here is a link to one of our Precision Lab Train videos that you might find useful:
