ADC07D1520: ADC07D1520 DCLK output during calibration

Part Number: ADC07D1520

Hi,

I'd like to keep the DCLK running all the time even during ADC calibration. According to datasheet pg 8/53 this is possible but Resistor Trim portion of calibration should be disabled after the very first power-on calibration cycle.

"If a system requires DCLK to run continuously during a calibration cycle, the termination resistor trim portion of the cycle can be disabled by setting the Resistor Trim Disable (RTD) bit to logic high in the Extended Configuration Register. This disables all subsequent termination resistor trims after the initial trim which occurs during power-on calibration. This output is not recommended as a system clock unless the resistor trim is disabled."

I am using the ADC07D1520 in Extended Control Mode with non of the parallel control pins connected.

** what are the side effects of disabling Resistor Trim calibration portion?

** Will the rest of calibration be fine??

** DCLK+/- will be running continuously, as datasheet says??

Please advise.

Thanks,

-Reza

  • Hi Reza

    Regarding your questions:

** what are the side effects of disabling Resistor Trim calibration portion?

The input termination resistors will not be trimmed. If large changes in ADC temperature occur the input resistance could change in value somewhat.

** Will the rest of calibration be fine??

Yes, the ADC linearity, offset and full scale range calibration will work normally.

** DCLK+/- will be running continuously, as datasheet says??

Yes. Once Resistor Trim Disable is set, the DCLK output(s) will run continuously even during calibration.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Best regards,
