ADS1258: Crystal startup

Part Number: ADS1258

I have try to use ADS1258 with "classic" networking for 32768 Hz crystals, same as Figure 11 in Application Report SBAA123, and oscillator start with any 32768 crystal. It's work, but it's "illegal" and can't pass examination of compliance with regulatory documents, such as datasheet and appnotes for this ADC. May be, TI application engeneers can test my solution and change documentation for ADS1258?

  • Hi there poster!

Our team of experts is enjoying a well deserved break this Thanksgiving Holiday with their family and friends. Our apologies for the delay in responding to your query, but we'll be back to it on Monday the 26th. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  • Hi Nick,

I'm glad your solution appears to be working...

Is your current concern simply a matter of using a different crystal than those recommended by the ADS1258 datasheet; otherwise, what is the other regulatory document that you are referring to?

I'd be interested to know the part number of the crystal that you are using, if you don't mind sharing!? I'm not sure if this is something we can test very thoroughly; usually the crystal manufacturer is better able to help with circuit recommendations.

    Best regards,
    Chris
