DAC8814: Performance impact of high altitude operation

Part Number: DAC8814

If operating the DAC8814 at high altitude (25,000+ ft) is there a performance or quality impact?

  • Hello Justin,

I'm not really an expert on the environment at 25,000 feet so I can only speak to this in basic terms that the device is rated to operate in temperatures ranging from -40C to 85C. I do not believe it is colder than -40C at 25,000 feet, so I think there is no problem.

I guess pressure should reduce as well in this environment and there will be some air-gaps inside the packaging mold compound, but I don't think there is any risk of fracturing of the package as I believe the stresses during soldering are probably worse.
