ADS8586S: Configuring the programmable gain amplifier

Hello All,

I am trying the develop a data acquisition system using ADS8586S. I was trying to get some more information on the on-chip programmable gain amplifier and how to configure it. I could not find more information on the data sheet. Below are my primary questions.

What is the default gain set for the amplifier?

How to configure the PGA gain?

I appreciate the help.

Hello,

The gain of the PGA is set by the RANGE pin 8.
This pin cannot be left floating and should be pulled high or low either through hardware or digital input.
The PGA can not be set to an arbitrary gain, it is set by the input range of the device.

Based on how the RANGE pin is configured, the PGA gain is set to expect the correct input range.
The input can be either ±10 V or ±5 V, then the PGA conditions the input, for the driver and ADC.
