ADS122C04EVM: How to interface ADS122C04EVM with other microcontrollers

Part Number: ADS122C04EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C1294NCPDT, ADS122C04,

Hi Wade here.

i know the evaluation board utilizes the TM4C1294NCPDT processor to communicate with the ADC via I2C and provide communication with a PC over USB interface.

My intention is to interface ADS122C04 with STM32F4 microcontroller. How can i take over the communication between ADC with TM4C1294NCPDT processor so that ADC able to communicate with my STM32F4 microcontroller?

Thanks

  • Hi Wade,

Welcome to the TI E2E Forums!

The ADS122C04EVM can be controlled by an external microcontroller by shorting JP1...

With JP1 populated, you can now plug in the USB cable to the ADS122C04EVM to power the EVM. The U6 and U7 level-shifters will be tri-stated, allowing you to connect to the ADC signals on the J3 header.

  • Hi Christopher Hall, Thanks for your answer.

But i not understand what is the purpose of the U6-7 level shifters in this evaluation board?

Beside, JP1 has two holes which are DIG and EN. Shorting JP1 mean connect this two holes ?

    Thanks

  • Hi Ooi,

The level-shifters are not necessary for this EVM; however, when disabled they allow you to connect to an external microcontroller.

Yes, I would recommend soldering a jumper wire between the two holes of JP1 (JP1-1 and JP1-2). This will hold the TIVA MCU in reset and ensure that the level-shifters are disabled.
