ADC12010: please recommend the most appropriate ADC

Part Number: ADC12010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7042, ADS8665

Hi,

I need to sample 2.4kHz sinusoidal waveform. Need to do the AD conversion every 20us.(Is 50ksps enough?) The resolution need to be 12bit at least.

Could you please recommend the most appropriate device?

  • Hi Howard,

I believe the Precision ADC team may be able to better assist you, so I have changed the thread accordingly.

    Best Regards,

    Dan
  • Hi Howard,

Can you provide more details on what you need to help narrow down a good recommendation?

    1.  Is there a preferred digital interface, SPI, I2C, parallel?

    2.  What input voltage range would be helpful?  (Do you need bipolar inputs or is 0-5V O.K.?)

    3.  Do you need more than 1 input?

50ksps will be high enough sample rate for a 2.4kHz input, but using a higher sample rate will make the anti-alias filter easier to design.

A couple of parts that may fit:

ADS7042 - Small size, very low power, 12b, 1Msps SAR adc

ADS8665 - 12b, 500ksps SAR adc with reference and PGA, bipolar inputs

    Regards,
    Keith N.
