ADC recommendation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS114S08

I would like a recommendation on a ADC to use. Here are some of my criteria:

-  6 input min

- 16 bits

- need to continuously sample all channels at a min of 600 SPS per channel.

- Low noise (probably dictating a Sigma-Delta)

- SMT

-widely available/popular (good lifecycle)

- low cost

  • Chuck,

Do the 6 channels need to be simultaneously sampled? Or can they have a single mux and sample each channel consecutively? Is the input measurement differential or single ended? Is 600SPS a necessity, or can it be a little slower?

Without knowing the exact application and specific details, one device that comes to mind is the ADS114S08. This device has a 12 input mux to read 6 differential channels and has a data rate of 4kSPS. However, going through 6 different channels, there might be some time overhead to limit the channel cycling to below 600SPS.

If you can provide more details about your system and requirements, that would be helpful. Someone else may pop in with a different answer, but it's what came to me quickly.
