ADS131E08: DRDY signal connection if not used

Part Number: ADS131E08

Hi,

I have a doubt regarding to the DRDY pin of the "ADS131E08IPAGR".

In the page 5 of the datasheet, in the Pin Functions table, it is indicated "Connect to DGND with a 10-kΩ resistor if unused."

In the page 49 of the datasheet, in the Unused Inputs and Outputs point, it is indicated "Pull DRDY to supply using weak pull-up resistor if unused."

Is it ok?

Thanks,

Best regards.

Aitor.

  • Aitor,

As a digital output, either recommendation for the pin would work. The pin is not used as an input, and is not expecting an input level as a high or a low.

If you are operating this device in continuous conversion mode and reading back the data immediately after the conversion completes, /DRDY will be high most of the time. In this case, you can tie the pin to positive supply through a 10kΩ resistor if you want to minimize the power consumption of the pull-up resistor.
