ADS8671: ADS867x range switching time.

Part Number: ADS8671

Hello,

I wasn't able find any information about range switching time of the ADC. When I set the range to new value how long should I wait get reliable readings?

Thanks!

  • Hello,
After completing a valid data transfer to configure the registers the next conversion should reflect the register configuration changes. The time this takes depends on the clock frequency used as well as the protocol, as this device supports multiSPI which is faster than convention SPI. Within the Datasheet, pg 39, there is more detail on a data transfer frame, this should prove helpful.

  • Hi alperen akk,

    Welcome to E2E Forum.

If any of the commands to ADS8671 are provided in a particular data frame F, that command will get executed at the rising edge of the CONVST/CS signal. I highlighted the exact position for executing the command as below where is also the time position to start a new conversion. The delay to get a stable conversion result was not measured and characterized after confirmed, but our design engineer's calculation showed that the time close to 120us is required to settle the required accuracy after changing the Range configuration.

I hope this is the answer you wanted, please let me know if you have any further question, thanks.

    Best regards

    Dale

  • That's what I was looking for.
    Thank you very much.
