DAC37J84: difference to DAC37J82

Part Number: DAC37J84
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC37J82, DAC38J82

The DAC37J82 is a two channel DAC and the DAC37J84 is a four channel DAC. But both datasheets show the same pinning without any hint which of the four channels are used in the two channel version.

  • Ernst:

Yes, this is initially confusing but the key is stated in the last paragraph of the description on the front page of the datasheet.

DAC37J82/DAC38J82 family provides four analog outputs and the data from the internal two digital paths can be routed to any two out of these four DAC outputs via the output multiplexer.

Hence, any of the four outputs are viable which gives you some flexibility in your PCB design to choose which two of the four outputs to use.
