ADS1293: How to read EMG instead of ECG?

Part Number: ADS1293

Hi,

It is still not clear to me.

I would like to use the best component for reading 2 channels of EMG.

So, is the ADS1293 is the best fit for this task ?

If so, do I need to add some peripherals components that it will read the EMG and not the ECG (much much stronger signal).

Please help me with more details how to implement this.

Thanks

Eldad

  • Hi Elad,

EMG is typically a stronger signal than ECG and carries a larger amplitude. In addition, the frequency content is generally wider as well, ranging up to a few hundred hertz. This does not mean that you need to design the signal chain components differently - in fact, I would say they are nearly the same as ECG.

I think the electrode placement will have more influence on the signals that you measure than the circuitry itself. Remember that ECG is a vector measurement that must cross the heart in some way.

    Best regards,
