ADS131E04: May Ads131 can replace AD9629?

Part Number: ADS131E04
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS131A04,

Hi Sir

May Ads131 can replace AD9629?

customer use in FFT function.

data rate about 20~30Kbps/per 1chennal , total 4channel. customer request Automotive rating.

May you have suggestion part?

  • Bogey,

It's possible that the ADS131A04 can be a replacement for four AD9629, but I think I'd need more information about the application. Is the 1.8V operation important? Does the application require simultaneous sampling of the four different input channels?

What is the input voltage? You mention an FFT function, but I'm not sure what that is a measurement for. Is the input measurement single-ended or differential.

I don't know if there is a good fit that is an automotive grade device. Also I'm not sure if there is similar device that is SAR type ADC (instead of the ADS131A04 which is delta-sigma). If you post more information about the application, we may be able to find a better fit.

  • Hi Joseph

My customer main function is to detect frequency.
1.there will thru one bypass cap for 27KHz frequency.
    2. single-ended
    3. Sample rate is about 30kbps.
May we know these info enough for you?

  • Bogey,

First, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I'm not sure that the ADS131E04 work in the application because of the input range. I had mentioned the ADS131A04 earlier and that may work better because of the input range. However, I still think it's important to get more information.

Is the low supply operation from the AD9629 important? Do the ADCs need to be simultaneously sampled, or can they be multiplexed? I would note that the ADS131E04 has a PGA that limits the input range, so that single ended measurements may not be possible. What did you mean by the "thru bypass cap for 27kHz frequency"? What resolution is needed?

I need as much information about the application as possible. The AD9629 is a very different part, and it may make more sense to use a SAR type ADC for this.
