Hi Ryan.

I want to use the ADS1923 on my board that has ESP32 MCU for measuring 3 different signals on the human body at the same time:

I want to measure EGC and EMG and EEG (one point) at the same time by using the 3 channels (IN1,IN2,IN3,IN4,IN5,IN6). is it possible ?

If it is possible, how I need to connect the 6 electrodes to the human body ? what about the reference electrode ?

Hi Eldad,

You could use one channel for each measurement so I do not see a reason that it is not possible. I'm not sure what type of performance you would get - it would largely depend on your back end code.

The electrodes will measure the voltage potential difference between the two nodes, so it depends on what signal you're trying to measure. For ECG you would want to measure across the heart/chest. For EEG you could connect the negative electrode to one ear and the positive electrode on the forehead. For EMG it depends on what muscle/skeletal will be measured. The bias electrode will need to be placed in a "central" location, as close as possible to the other electrodes.

another question... I am using the esp32 mcu
can I use the internal oscillator clock of the ADS1293 or I need to add external oscillator clock signal to the ADS1293 ?

what will be the correct way to communicate between the esp32 and the ADS1293 via the SPI regarding the clock issue

Hi Eldad,

My mistake, bias = reference electrode. You can use either clock source. If you'll be running other circuitry and want everything in sync then you'll want to use a common clock. Communication will not change - you'll just have different clock connections based on which method you choose to implement.

Regarding the internal oscillator, not related to the the SPI communication.

Can i use the internal oscillator without any problems ?

Hi Eldad,

You can measure from 3 points since the measurements will be taken simultaneously. If you're considering an EEG project, I encourage you to consider one of the ADS1299 devices as they are optimized for EEG measurements.
