TSW1400EVM: Use "TSW1400_pattern_gen_win7" generated Data for DAC3482

Part Number: TSW1400EVM

Hi,

I purchased TSW1400EVB and TSW3085 EVB, verfiied the WCDMA perfoamance. Later, we have made our own board of FPGA + DAC3482 chip. We verified of sending simple sine wave/square wave and etc, everything was correct.

Now,  it is time to use WCDMA waveform and measure performance on our own board. We use "TSW1400_pattern_gen_win7" software generates WCDMA signal, but it doesn't seem to be correct as we only see wideband noise from spectrum analyzer. We guess the generated data file format maybe different than DAC3482 data (16bitI then 16bit Q), moreover the file may contains more information than IQ data....

Is there any document available that explains "TSW1400_pattern_gen_win7" generated file format or does anyone know where can i find this information? We do need to measure the WCDMA  and LTE performance in house before sending to customer.

It is highly appreciated if any help or ideas.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi TL
We are looking into this. We will provide a more detailed response tomorrow.

  • Hi Jim,
Is there any update on my case? We are still waiting to perform ACP test in house.
    Thanks,

  • Hi TL
I will try to get an update for you tomorrow. The file format used is proprietary and I am trying to determine if we have documentation that can be shared regarding the details and how to convert to a more generic format.
    Best regards,

  • Jim,

This is one more week, is ther any good news available? My boards are still waiting in house.

  • Terry,

I did not see any issues with the files created by this software. Can you send screen shots of the software that was used to create the test file? Can you also send the .tsw file created by the software? How are you implementing the file? The file is made up of columns, with each column a DAC input and either I or Q data. This software was created many years ago and the engineers are no longer with us. I am afraid there is no documentation available for this but I am still searching. Have you tried using any of the existing WCDMA test files that can be found in the location shown below?

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Hi Jim

Yes, we can open the file with a text editor, but ....

I tried to use this LTE file on my own board, but got nothing from spectrum analyzer. I also tried to load this IQ file into Matlab, the FFT result shows only wideband noise. However, I did see the good ACP performance with TSW1400 and 3085 EVB;  thus, i realized the iq file data may not be as simple as we can see. This is the reason why i posted this question 2 weeks ago  as I have to measure ACP performance of my own board in house prior to sending to customer.

Hope you can help on my case and bring some good news to us, or we may loss the business...

    Thanks,

    TL

  • Pattern Generators.pdfTerry,

The attached document is all I could find. I am still asking around to see if there is any more info we can provide.

What mode are you using the DAC in, byte wide or word wide?

    Regards,

    Jim
