ADS1278-EP: Device driver of MMB0 for Windows 7 or XP

Part Number: ADS1278-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278, ADCPRO, TMS320VC5507, TMS320VC5509A

Dear Sir:

Could you please tell me where to find the device driver of MMB0 for the PC of Windows 7, so that I can manually download and install it? When MMB0 is plugged to a USB port of a windows7 PC, the PC could not find a driver for it.

Regards,

Wenquan

  • Hi Wenquan,

I see that you have already asked this question 4 days ago with regards to the ADS1278 device. All derivatives of the ADS1278 use the same ADCpro software and MMBO hardware. I recommend uninstalling all and trying a fresh install as the MMB0 driver should be loaded during the installation. The following document might help:

    www.ti.com/.../slau372a.pdf.

    thanks
    Christian
  • Dear Christian:

Thank you very much for your help.

It still didn't work after I removed the old installation and installed the newly-downloaded ADCPRO-installer.exe. Here is something interesting. SLAU372A said that the downloaded file was adcpro-launcher-x.x.x.exe, but my actually-downloaded file was ADCPRO-installer.exe that didn't include any device driver in it. As a results, both my wondows10 and Windows7 still didn't recognize MMB0 when I plugged MMB0 to the USB port of my PCs.

According to SLAU327a.pdf, MMB0's driver for Windows7 is libusb-win32, USBStyx. This means that the driver is a 32-bit driver, and all my PCs are running the 64-bit OS. Is there a 64-bit driver of MMB0 for Windows7 or Windows10?

    Wenquan
  • Hi Wenquan,

Did you install the ADS1278 plugin? The MMB0 will be installed with the plugin. As far as the adcpro-launcher, that program has not been used for some time, but unfortunately the user's guide was not updated.

    Best regards,
    Bob B
  • Dear Bob:

Thank you very much for your response. Where can I find this plug-in? I only installed ADCPRO-installer.exe. Should I manually install the
    ADS1278 plug-in?

    Wenquan
  • Dear Bob:

Although the adcpro-launcher is very old, it obviously worked in the passed. The ADCPRO-installer.exe is recent, but unfortunately it doesn't work.

Since MMB0 is built around tms320vc5507/9, can I buy a debugger software so that I can connect MMB0 to my PC Windows 10?

Interestingly, the following website provides Tms320vc5509a Usb Bootloader for MMB0.

    semantic.gs/tms320vc5509a_usb_bootloader_driver_v2_download

    It said the following:

Tms320vc5509a Usb Bootloader now has a special edition for these Windows versions: Windows 7, Windows 7 64 bit, Windows 7 32 bit, Windows 10, Windows 10 64 bit, Windows 10 32 bit, Windows 8, Windows XP Home Edition, for home desktops and laptops 64bit, Windows 7 Enterprise (Microsoft Windows NT) 32bit, Windows 10 Enterprise 32bit, Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit, Windows 10 Pro Education 64bit, Windows 7 Home Basic 32bit, Windows 8 Pro 64bit, Windows XP Starter Edition 64bit, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise 32bit, Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit, Windows 8 64bit, Windows Vista Home Basic 64bit, Windows 8 Enterprise 64bit.

Do you know where I can buy the development/debugger software for the MMB0 mother board? The MMB0 under the debugger control must be able to connect to Windows10 or Windows7.

  • Hi Wenquan,

The ADCPro installer is downloaded from here:

    http://www.ti.com/tool/ADCPRO

The link shown above is the correct and only installer for ADCPro.  Ignore any usage to the launcher in the user's guide.  The launcher functionality has been removed.  ADCPro will work on 32 or 64-bit MS-Windows7.  ADCPro should be installed before the plugin.

The ADS1278EVM plugin can be downloaded from here:

    http://www.ti.com/tool/ADS1278EVM-PDK

The drivers should be installed with the plugin.  The MMB0 is a motherboard to be used only for demonstrating the functionality of our EVMs.  It is not a development platform, and it is not supported in that way.  I do not recommend using third party tools or drivers.  ADCPro was developed for the Windows 7 platform. TI does not support ADCPro for Windows 10, however many customers have been able to get it to work.

I would highly suggest you get ADCPro working on Windows 7, then once you see the entire installation process you can try to get it to work on Windows 10.  Here is another link that may be helpful.  It is not for the ADS1278, but you may be able to follow the instructions and get it to work.

  • Dear Bob:

After downloaded ADS1278EVM-PDK-SW, my ADCPro and MMB0 worked together very well for both my Windows 7 and Windows XP.

But, my Windows 10 still doesn't work with ADCPro and MMB0, although I restarted my Windows 10 with signature enforcement being disabled. After ADCPro was installed, Windows 10's device manager marked MMB0 as unknown. After I installed ADS1278EVM-PDK-SW, Windows 10's device manager still marked MMB0 as unknown, but I could see ADS1278EVM in the EVM tab of ADCPro. But ADCPro always says that "firmware download failed .. reset the firmware". After my pushing on the reset button on the MMB0 board, ADCPro tried to reload again, but always ended up with "firmware download failed .. reset the firmware".

    Wenquan
  • Hi Wenquan,

I would suggest you do your testing with ADCPro in Win7. I provided a link with instructions on how one customer was able to get ADCPro to work with Win10 in my previous post.

TI does not support ADCPro for Win10. The provided link is the best we can do to help you. We have very few machines within TI that use Win10 and it is very difficult to develop and test Win10 applications on Win7 machines.
