ADS1120: single-ended signals question

Part Number: ADS1120

as we can see,ADS1120 can support 4 single-ended signals, but i didn't find any design example

does it have any design example about 4 single-ended signals?

  • Hi Gary,

The use of the term 'single-ended measurement' implies a unipolar input measurement with respect to ground.  The ADS1120 has multiplexer inputs with internal connections from each of the four analog inputs to AVSS.  This is shown in the block diagram where AVSS is internally connected to the AINN input.  The AINP input is connected to one of the four analog inputs (AIN0, AIN1, AIN2 and AIN3).  The analog supply must also be unipolar, such as +3.3V/GND or +5V/GND within the analog supply range.

When making single-ended measurements the PGA must be disabled and bypassed.  Gain is also limited to gains of 1, 2, or 4.  This operation is discussed in section 8.3.2.2 on page 24 of the ADS1120 datasheet in the section titled Bypassing the PGA.  External connections would be similar to as follows:

    Best regards,
