TSW1400EVM: Getting a "Frame Clock error in Read DDR to file error" message.

Part Number: TSW1400EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS52J90, ADS52J90EVM

Getting a "Frame Clock error in Read DDR to file error" message.  I am using the TSW1400 with the ADS52J90 EVM. I have the clock reference in J75 at 50Mhz, +4dBm, The User_LEDs on the TSW1400 are on except UserLED_4, Setup of the ADS52J90 via the ADS52J90 EVM GUI.  Have tried several modes.  Trying to use 8 channel 10bit mode, none seem to work.    Using the High Speed Data Converter Pro v5.00 Gui, set ADC datarate to 50Mhz.  Capture button results in the "Frame Clock error in Read DDR to file" error.

  • Hi Mike,

Thanks for using ADS52J90EVM and TSW1400EVM.
I will look into your question about the error message and will reply to you very soon.

    Best regards,
    Chen
  • Hi Nike,
    How are you?
Yes, we understand now. We know you are using TSW1400EVM (this is used for capturing LVDS output data)
    for ADS52J90.
Therefore please connect J55 SMA to your 50MHz clock input signal.
    Also please make sure
    connect JP39 (pin 1+pin 3, and pin 2+pin 4)
    connect JP40 (pin1+pin3, and pin2+pin4)

    Thank you!
    Have a nice day!

    Best regards,
    Chen
  • Chen,

Got this resolved by setting the ADS52J90 mode through the Highspeed Converter Pro when first starting.  Then loading the correct mode via HMC-DAC.  It seems the Highspeed Converter Pro needs to estabish some link to connect to the FPGA for LVDS mode prior to programming the ADC.  Seems quite odd but works.

  • Hi Mike,

    How are you?
Thank you for letting me know it works for you now.
Since ADS52J90 has two different modes (LVDS and JESD),
HMC-DAC program shows you both options to choose
because it does not know which FPGA board (for example, you are using TSW1400EVM board right now) will be plugged onto ADS52J90EVM at all.
High Speed Converter Pro can detects which FPGA board (for example, now is using TSW1400EVM) you are using through USB port.

    Thank you!
    Have a nice day!

    Best regards,
    Chen
