ADS7142: AVDD and DVDD together?

Hi,

my customer need I2C interface ADC with 8-12 bit resolution, one channel is enough. And the I2C need to be 1.8V compatible.

I searched and find that ADS7142 is the cheapest meet the requirement.

ADS7142's comparison and alert function is not needed.

Then I have two questions about this device:

1. Can we use the same 1.8V to power both AVDD and DVDD (connect them directly together) ?

2. I can't find any register contain the conversion result.

    Hello,

    I did a quick parametric search, filtering resolution to 8 to 12 and single channel I2C devices and got the following

    17 devices. Note, there are delta sigma's and SAR within this search, and does not have a filter on Sampling rate.

    As for the ADS7142, this is a SAR device

    1. Yes you can connect both AVDD and DVDD together to 1.8V, not that this will limit the Analog Full Scale for the input to 1.8V. Is this acceptable?

    2.  Information about the conversion results can be found in the ADC Transfer Function section of the Datasheet, starting on Page 21. The conversion result will be available on the SDA line.
