ADS54J64EVM: Trying to reinstall setup_ADS58J64EVM.exe

Part Number: ADS54J64EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS58J64EVM, , ADS58J64, ADS54J64

I downloaded & installed from sbac161.zip, but it seemed to install for the ADS58J64EVM, not the ADS54J64EVM that I wanted. I manually removed the program, but trying re-run the unzipped setup_ADS58J64EVM.exe gives a message it's already (still) installed and won't reinstall.

  • Mike,

The ADS54J64EVM uses the ADS58J64EVM GUI. After you did the uninstall, there may be a folder called "ADS58J64 EVM" that has to be manually deleted before you can install the GUI again. This folder would be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments.

    Jim

  • I restored the install from the recycle bin (perhaps being in the recycle stops the reinstall?)

So all the menu items seem to reference the ADS58J64 part, and my limited understanding is that the modes are different between the two parts. Is there a mode/switch on the gui to make it use explicitly the ADS54J64 or do I somehow infer what it's doing?

  • Mike,

For the most part, the two parts are identical. The only difference is that the ADS54J64 can bypass the DDC whereas the ADC58J64 can only do this in a bust fashion. You should be able to get your board running following the User's Guide as is. I did notice a typo where it calls out to hit the "Configure ADS54J64" button. This should have read as "ADS58J64".

    Regards,

    Jim
