ADS1675REF: Evaluating ADS1675REF

Part Number: ADS1675REF

Hi TI Forum guys,

I recently acquired ADS1675REF evaluation board with XEM3010 FPGA. I need to test the ADC by applying signal and recording and visualizing the digitised output. It will be very much appreciated if you can provide me the FPGA source Course and other details to do it. I tried bit ADCPRo Software and with that I was not really able to access and represent the signal I was applying to the ADC Input.

Thank you in advance for your appreciaton.

Cheers

  • Hello Olonbayar,

The source code is included in the ADS1675REF-SW download for the evaluation board.  Both Labview VI's and the FPGA code are included.  We do not have any additional documentation on how to use the source code.

    ADS1675 Evaluation Module

Please note that the evaluation board using the XEM3010 and ADCPro software supports up to 8M samples of ADC data that you can then save to a file and import to different tools for further analysis.

  • Hi Keith,
Thanks for your replies. I tried bit ADCPro. I could not really access digitised signal at the output of the converter. The software seems to show only signal that is already recorded and not the signal I was applying to the converter. Even after I disconnected the ADC from my computer, I was still seeing the signal plots. I thought that the evaluation software would represent the signal I am applying either in time or frequency domain. I cannot see any detailed description in the document supplied. It will be great if I can get support in doing this.

In my download there were no LabVIEW and FPGA codes included. Could you please send me the link for the download where we have the source codes.

  • Hi Olonbayar,

There is a user's manual for ADCpro that has additional information not included in the ADS1675REF user's guide.

    http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbau128c/sbau128c.pdf

Section 3.5.5 shows how to use the Data Recorder feature, for example, if you want to save and export data into a different tool.

Can you confirm that the ADS1675REF-SW plug-in is installed (in addition to ADCPro installation) and the drivers for the OPAL Kelly XEM3010 have been installed per sections 7.1 and 7.2 in the ADS1675REF user's guide?

    http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbau162a/sbau162a.pdf

I will note that there is a bug in the most recent version where the GUI will always show that it is connected to hardware even if there is no connection.  I think you may not actually be connected to the EVM even though the software shows that you are connected.  Also, can you confirm that you have +5V external supply provided on screw terminals J5?  This is necessary to power both the XEM3010 board and the ADS1675 device.

Step 8. Apply +5 VDC to the screw terminal marked J5. +5VA and GND are marked at the terminal entry points.

The firmware is available in the following directory after you download the ADS1675REF-SW plug-in.

    Regards,
    Keith

  • Hi Keith,

Thanks for your replies. No, ADS1675REF-SW plug-in is not installed. Nowhere I can find it. Could you please tell me where I should get the installation?

    Thanks again for great cooperation.

  • Hi Keith,
No any plug in is installed with ADCPro. ADCPro Launcher is not there. It is not clear where I should get the installation for all software needed. Currently I have only ADCpro installed. All the plug ins are missing. Obviously people did evaluation for the ADC board I am working on. Would be really appreciated if you give me clear guidance.

    Regards Olonbayar
  • Hi Keith,

There is no any plug ins related to ADS1675. The user's guide says that there should be CD-ROM shipped together with the board. If not there should be a link where the installation for plug ins can be downloaded. Could you please send me a link for doing that. My evm folder contains only subfolders FileReader and TripleGen and Nothing more. All plug ins related to ADS1675 are missing.

    Regards Olonbayar

  • Hi Olonbayar,

We no longer include CD-ROM's with the EVM kits.  The software plug-in (ADS1675REF-SW) is available for download on the ADS1675REF web page.

    http://www.ti.com/tool/ADS1675REF

Once on the web page, scroll down to the Order Now section, then click the 'Download' button for ADS1675REF-SW.  You will need to sign in using your myTI account similar to what you did for ADCPro.

After you download and install this software, you should be able to connect your hardware and start ADCPro.  Clicking on the EVM option in ADCPro should now show the ADS1675REF option.

    Regards,
    Keith
