ADS1298: ADS1298 Input current requirements

Dear,

we are using ADS1298 device in one of the medical equipment. Kinldy provide us the details of below,

Input current (momentary) i.e 100mA--> For how many seconds this current should be supplied? 

If we use AVDD = 3.0V/100mA LDO with additional 2x10uF capacitors near to AVDD pin does it solve the purpose of momentary current demand? Please help with the inrush current requirement graphs.

    Hi Chandrashekhar,

    Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum! 

    The Input current (momentary) i.e 100mA specification is in the absolute maximum rating for the device. This is what you should not do in order to keep the device functional. Subjecting the device to values beyond these limits will destroy the device, as noted below the table:

    (1) Stresses beyond those listed under Absolute Maximum Ratings may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings only, which do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended Operating Conditions. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.

    What inrush current requirement graphs are you talking about?

    Dear Alexander,

    My question was like this below, 

    1. Input current (momentary) + Input current (continuous) = 100mA + 10mA = 110mA , but we used the LDO TPS76901 which is capable of supply 100mAps. is this current sufficient for AVDD?
    2. What is the current taken by DVDD?
    3. Input current (momentary) means  though it is an inrush current taken by t he device at initialization  or once it boot. If it is momentary then how many seconds/msec this current need to be supplied?

    Hi Chandrashekhar,

    You are reading from the wrong specification in the data characteristics table. 

    Input current (momentary) + Input current (continuous) are from the absolute maximum ratings table. Exceeding these ratings will destroy the device. These are not the ratings that the device needs to operate. 

    Please see page 16. of the datasheet.
