ADS1018: settling time

Part Number: ADS1018

Hi,

what is the settling time of the ADS1018? I cannot find it in the datasheet.

Regards,

Jon

  • Jon,

For the ADS1018, the conversion time is related to the nominal data rate. You would use this to determine how long to wait to read the conversion after a conversion is started. With some internal oscillator variation, you would need to wait a bit longer to guarantee that the conversion has completed.

Starting with 1/(data rate) nominally for the conversion, you would add on 10% for any internal oscillator variation. Add on another 20us of time to for the device to power up and start the conversion.

As an example,  take a case where the data rate is set to 1600SPS. This would take:

    (1/1600)*1.1 + 20us = 0.71ms

Hopefully that answers your question. If I've misunderstood the question, or you have others, feel free to post back.
