DAC43608: Regarding Left high

Part Number: DAC43608

Could you support to answer regarding below asking?

1, Would be "left high" an open drain? Or would drive left high with VDD?

2, If "left high" is an open drain, Could be it safe to connect SDA with a +3.3V system?

Data sheet Page 22 : http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/slaseq4a/slaseq4a.pdf

"A not-acknowledge is when the SDA line is left high during the high period of the ninth clock cycle as shown in Figure 56."

  • Hi Kenma-san,

    Thank you for your query.

    1. The I2C pins are open-drain. That means, the devices only pull them low whenever necessary. The pull-up resistors make sure the pins are maintained high by default when the devices are not driving them low.

    2. Regarding connecting them to VDD, you should not connect them directly. You should use pull-up resistors: 2K or above.

    Hope that answers your question.
