TSW14J56EVM: linux API and firmware

Hi all,

We would like to run our TSW14J56EVM board under linux, and were wondering, whether, first, there is an API for communicating with the device. (We are interfacing with an ADS52J65EVM ADC board.) Based on

it seems to me that at least, under windows, it is possible to hijack the LabView API, and call the relevant DLLs directly.

Second, could we get access to the FPGA's latest firmware? In someone could download the firmware, but those links are no longer live. Having access to the firmware would render my first question redundant, because we could then develop our own API.

Greetings Jim,

Many thanks for the link. Can one, by any chance, open the firmware with the Lite edition of Quartus? I know that the software doesn't support Arria V, which is on the evaluation board, but we don't want to re-compile the firmware at this point, we simply wanted to take a look at it. I have already downloaded Quartus, but ran into difficulties, when trying to open the firmware.

What are the issues you ran into when trying to open the firmware? Please send screen shots from the Quartus tool. This may help us debug this for you.

Zoltan,

You will need to get a license from Altera. Did you try getting the 30 day free trial license?

Greetings Jim,

We installed the lite version, which doesn't require a licence. Are you saying that with licence, we could open the firmware, even if we don't have the premium version? When I downloaded the software, I didn't see that we could have to full version with a trial licence.

Zoltan,

We have been able to download the standard version and open the design without a license. You will need to specify the part family when asked by the installer. The license is only required if you want to do a compile. If you are having issues with this, I would suggest you contact the Altera forum.
